Due to the variety of species and breeds, it is quite difficult to establish a healthy weight range for pets. Bringing them in for an in-clinic consultation with the vet is the best way to know. That being said, there are some general characteristics you can watch out for. Your pet’s waist should be slightly tapered in with a clear distinction from their hips. Their belly should not be hanging out. Lastly, you should be able to feel the bottom rows of their ribs with little to no fat.
